EQ Lab Kit
Continuous waveform monitoring for research, teaching, and product development
The EQ Lab Kit brings the same continuous waveform monitoring platform we deploy in industrial environments to the lab bench, so your work runs on real power rather than simulation. An EQ Wave™ sensor captures every waveform, and the EQ Lab Gateway, built on a Raspberry Pi 5, records it with EQ Coherence™, shows it live in EQ Sight™, and includes JupyterLab for hands-on analysis. EQ Syntropy™ is available by subscription, with a free trial.
What Is Included
EQ Wave sensor
The same EQ Wave we deploy in industrial facilities:
- Continuous point-on-wave capture at 32 ksps per channel, 24-bit
- 3 voltage and 4 current channels, sampled simultaneously
- One current transformer (CT) to get started; add CTs for the other current channels as your setup needs
- Galvanic isolation inside the sensor, and a plastic optical fiber (100Base-FX) link to the gateway
EQ Lab Gateway
- Raspberry Pi 5 with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB NVMe SSD
- EQ Coherence preinstalled, recording every waveform to the SSD
- Boots directly into EQ Sight, with full local access to the recorded data
Connection
- Plastic optical fiber cable from the sensor to the gateway
- Media converter for the fiber-to-copper connection to the gateway
Software and analytics
Everything here runs on the gateway except EQ Syntropy.
- EQ Sight: live dashboards and waveforms, harmonic analysis, and history down to a single cycle
- JupyterLab: Python notebooks with direct access to the recorded Parquet files, for custom analysis, teaching materials, and research
- equser: our open-source Python toolkit from PyPI, on the device to use as is or extend
- EQ Syntropy trial: one month of remote AI diagnostics and root-cause analysis on our servers, starting when you activate it, then available by subscription
- Software updates: delivered through our secure Debian package repository
- Remote setup help: secure access, with your permission, while you get the kit running
Data access
The Lab Kit offers the same data paths as every EQ deployment: the recorded Parquet files, REST and WebSocket APIs for history and live data, the metrics stream every 10 or 12 cycles, and Modbus TCP and MQTT. The acquisition and storage pipeline is written in Rust; everything you touch as a developer is Python.
Who This Is For
- Grid modernization and power systems labs: continuous waveform data for inverter-dominated grid research, distributed energy resource (DER) interaction studies, and microgrid testbeds
- Power electronics and converter testbeds: the harmonics, interharmonics, and control interactions converters put on the line, up to about 8 kHz
- Courses, workforce development, and training programs: hands-on power quality analysis using real waveform data and industry-standard tools
- Product development and OEM R&D: see how a new product draws power, from inrush to steady state, while it is still on the bench
Pricing
- USD $3,000 per kit, covering one three-phase measurement node, with everything listed above and setup support
- Additional sensors can be added for multi-point monitoring.
The EQ Lab Kit is a special build for educational labs and commercial and OEM R&D teams, produced in limited numbers alongside our industrial deployments. To see whether it fits your lab or program, email sales@eq.systems or schedule a call.
