EQ Coherence
EQ Coherence™ is the real-time data foundation of the Energy Quotient™ platform, recording everything EQ Wave™ measures, including the full Continuous Point-on-Wave (CPOW) stream. For each device, it validates and processes every sample as it arrives, stores it gap-free on your premises, and serves the record to people, software, and AI through the same APIs.
It runs on a gateway, the Linux computer that receives your EQ Wave streams. That can be our hardware or your own, anything from a Raspberry Pi to an industrial edge AI server. EQ Syntropy™ builds on it to reason across devices, and EQ Sight™ provides a unified user interface for both.
Continuous, Gap-Free Recording
EQ Coherence captures two concurrent streams from each EQ Wave sensor, with no triggers and no gaps:
- CPOW: seven-channel waveform data at 32 ksps per channel, delivered in frames of about 2 ms
- Metrics: RMS voltage and current, power, power factor, frequency, harmonics, unbalance, and more, updated every 10 or 12 cycles (about 200 ms at 50 or 60 Hz)
It validates, timestamps, and writes both streams to storage as they arrive. The pipelines are written in Rust: memory-safe by design, and efficient enough that each sensor’s full stream, about 6 Mbps, takes only a few percent of one CPU core, even on a Raspberry Pi. The pipelines are modular, so processing for your application slots in alongside ours.
Your Data Stays With You
- Open format: recordings are Apache Parquet files, readable directly from Python, Rust, and common analytics tools.
- Local storage: a typical three-phase deployment records about 50 GB a day, losslessly compressed, on the storage you choose: an NVMe or USB SSD, or even a thumb drive, sized to the history you want to keep. When storage fills, the oldest data is reclaimed so recording continues.
- Optional data lake sync: a subscription service synchronizes recordings to our data lake for central access and long-term archive.
- You own the measurement: the waveform and metrics streams from an EQ Wave sensor are open, at full rate and full resolution, with no license needed to read them.
One Stream, Many Consumers
EQ Coherence serves the same data to any number of concurrent consumers without affecting recording:
- REST API: query months or years of waveform history with sub-cycle precision, with time-range selection, downsampling, and bulk export
- WebSocket streaming: live waveform and spectral data pushed to connected clients as it arrives
- Parquet export: the recordings themselves, for external analysis platforms and data pipelines
- Embedded runtime, for partners: live CPOW linked directly into your own software through a C interface, with no network hop. A partner runs it in production today; see Custom Applications.
Modbus TCP and MQTT connect it to building management, energy management, and industrial IoT systems. DNP3, BACnet, and OPC UA are available on request.
EQ Sight, Included
Every EQ Coherence installation includes EQ Sight™: live dashboards and instruments, and drill-down from long-term trends to single cycles, so a gateway is usable from its first day. With EQ Syntropy, the same interface adds AI diagnostics and the view across devices.
What Comes With It
Every EQ Wave sensor gets continuous CPOW and metrics recording, local storage, REST and WebSocket access, and the EQ Sight interface. These are always on.
Further capabilities turn on in the same gateway, without a new deployment: advanced analysis (standards engines and compliance reporting), communication protocols, and waveform-grounded control.
EQ Syntropy is a separate product: physics-grounded AI that reads from EQ Coherence across devices for diagnostics, conversational query, and automated root-cause investigation.
Where It Runs
EQ Coherence runs on a gateway near your EQ Wave sensors. Each sensor connects over plastic optical fiber, so the gateway stays electrically isolated from the measured circuits and immune to radio-frequency interference. The gateway can be:
- Industrial gateways (Toradex, DIN-rail or panel mount) for production deployments
- Edge AI computers (such as NVIDIA Jetson Thor) that run EQ Coherence and EQ Syntropy in one unit
- Raspberry Pi as the EQ Lab Gateway for labs, workbenches, and demonstrations
- Your own Linux computer, for flexible deployments on customer hardware
It operates fully on-premises, including on isolated and air-gapped networks. The deployment guide covers each option.
